ALLAAH IS ONE

Allaah is One in His Essence, Glory be to Him. He is also One in His Lordship (Ruboobiyyah). He alone originated creation bringing it into existence from nothing without any prior existence of its kind. He says:

"Indeed your Lord is Allaah, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allaah, the Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" (Q 7:54).

His Oneness

He alone sustains the creation and alone - Glory be to Him - He shall bring it back to naught and then Resurrection. He says:

"Verily! Allaah grasps the heavens and the earth lest they move away from their places, and if they were to move away from their places, there is not one that could grasp them after Him. Truly, He is Ever Most Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving." (Q35:41).

He also says:

"Allaah is He Who created you, then provided food for you, then will cause you to die, then (again) He will give you life (on the Day of Resurrection). Is there any of your (so-called) partners (of Allaah) that do anything of that? Glory be to Him! And Exalted be He above all that (evil) they associate (with Him}." (Q 30:40).

So is He One in His Names and Sublime Attributes and no one shares with Him the essence of the true meanings of these Names and Attributes.

He alone is worthy of worship

People, things and places worshipped by men and jinns besides Him are themselves His creation weak and dependent on Him. Allaah says:

"O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): Verily! Those on whom you call besides Allaah, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatched away a thing from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought." (Q 22:73).

Also He says:

"Say (O Muhammad): Tell me or inform me (what) do you think about your (so called) partner-gods, to whom you call upon besides Allaah, show me, what they have created of the earth? Or have they any share in the heavens? Or have We given them a Book, so that they act on clear proof there from? Nay, the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) promise one another nothing but delusions. " (Q 35: 40).

He begets not

It is above the Majesty and Glory of Allaah to beget i.e. have children. He, The Originator and Sustainer of creation, is not begotten as well. He says:

"No son (or offspring or children) did Allaah beget, nor is there any ilah (god) along with Him ... ." (Q 23:91).

Allaah also says:

"He begets not, nor was He begotten; and there is none coequal or comparable unto Him. "(Q 112:3-4).

Allaah has no associate, no relative, no wife, no child; male or female! He says:

"And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children)." (Q 72:3).

Allaah has made the association of partners to Him Glory be to Him the greatest evil that may be committed in creation. He also says:

" Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allaah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin."(Q 4:48).
