Yajooj and Majooj will emerge after Eesa [peace be upon him] had descended and the Dajjal had been defeated. In a very lengthy hadith in Sahih Muslim, narrated by An-Nawwas Ibn Samaan that the Messenger of Allaah [peace and blessings be upon him] said:
"...Then Eesa ibn Maryam will come to people whom Allaah has protected from him [i.e. from the Dajjal]. He will wipe their faces and will tell them about their status in Paradise.
Whilst that will be happening, Allaah will say to him: "I have sent out some slaves of mine, and none will be able to fight them. Take My slaves to safety in At-Toor [Sinai]. [i.e. take them up into the mountain so that they will be safe] Then Allaah will send Yajooj and Majooj, who will come pouring down from every high place. The first of them will pass the lake of Tabariyyah [Tiberias], and will drink it all up. The last of them will pass by it and will say, There was once water here. The Prophet of Allaah Eesa [peace be upon him] and his companions will be besieged [in At- Toor, and will be so hard-pressed] that the head of a bull would be dearer to anyone of them than one hundred dinars is to any of you today Eesa [peace be upon him] and his companions will beseech Allaah, and Allaah will send upon them a worm in their necks, and in the morning they will perish as one.
Then the Prophet of Allaah Eesa [peace be upon him] and his companions will come down and they will not find even a hand span of the earth, not filled with their putrefaction and stench. Eesa [peace be upon him] and his companions will beseech Allaah and He will send birds with necks like those of bakht camels, which will carry them and throw them wherever Allaah wills. Then Allaah will send rain, which no house or tent will be spared, and which will wash the earth until it leaves it like a mirror. In another report, Muslim adds, after the phrase There was here once: Then they will travel on until they come to Jabal al-Khumr, which is a mountain in Jerusalem.
They will say, We have killed those on earth, now let us kill those who are in heaven. So they will shoot their arrows up into the sky, and Allaah will send them back covered in blood. The reason why no one will be able to stand against them is because of their large numbers. Their huge numbers are indicated by the fact that the Muslims will light fires from their weapons for seven years after they are destroyed. In a hadith that can be found in Tirmidhi it is narrated that The Muslims will light fires from the bows and arrows of Yajooj and Majooj, and their weapons and shields, for seven years."
