Types of charity

BE GOOD

The Prophet (PBUH) said:

"Every good deed is charity. " (Ahmad)

Point to Ponder: Do good at all times.

 

START FROM YOUR FAMILY

Rasulullah (PBUH) said:

 "Whenever a Muslim spends something for his family hoping for its reward from Allah. It is recorded as an act of charity for him." (Bukhari & Muslim)

Point to Ponder: Goodness to your family is charity.

 

GIVE A HELPING HAND

Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: 

"Charity is incumbent upon every human limb everyday. Bringing peace between Mo contending people is charity: helping a person to mount his camel or loading his baggage for him is charity, a good word is charity; and removing anything from the road (sharp object) is charily, every step to the mosque is a charity". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Do one or more of the acts of charity.

 

ZAKAAT ON WEALTH

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) cautions: 

''He whom Allah has given wealth, and who does not pay its zakaat, his wealth shall be made, on the Day of Resurrection, into a bald headed serpent having two fangs; if shall be put upon him as a collar on the Day of Resurrection; then will it seize the Mo projecting of his lower jaw. and say, 7am your wealth. 1am your treasure." (Bukhari).

Point to Ponder: Take heed, pay zakaat on your wealth if and when it is due.

 

ZAKAATUL FITR

"The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) has mandated the obligation of zakaatul fitr as a cleanser of the fasting Muslim (from what one may have done) mistakes or obscene acts and to provide for the poor." (Abu Daud).

Point to Ponder: Did you or someone on your behalf Pay zakaatul-fitr? 'Yes!', now your fast is clean.

 

GIVE FOOD

The Prophet (PBUH) said: 

"Serve the Merciful, give food and spread peace, you will then enter Paradise with peace". (Ibn majah)

Point to Ponder: Even with food, Paradise can be yours.

WITH RESPITE

The Messenger (PBUH) said: 

"Whoever is saved by one of his (Muslim) brothers and allows respite for the payment of the debt will be given the reward of charity for each day he give respite to the debtor"(Ahmad)

Point to Ponder: Be gentle with those who owe you.

 

Rewards of charity

A TREE lN PARADISE

Allah's Prophet (PBUH) said: 

"Generosity is a tree in Paradise whoever is generous will catch one of its branches and the branch will not leave him till it will admits him in Paradise. And niggardliness is a tree in Hell whoever is a miser will catch one of its branches and the branch will not leave him fill it will admits him in Hell." (Baihaqi)

Point to Ponder: Care for a tree in Paradise? Be generous!

 

UNDER THE SHADE OF ALLAH'S THRONE

The Messenger (PBUH) said: 

''A person who gives in charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given will be under the shade of Allah's throne on the day of Resurrection " (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Give secretly: Allah will give you His shade on the Last Day.

 

NEAR ALLAH

Rasulullah (PBUH) said: 

"The generous man is near Allah, near Paradise near the Angels, near the people and far from Hell ... " (Trimidhi)

Point to Ponder: Be generous, be with Allah. 

THE SUCCESSFUL

The Prophet (PBUH) said: 

"There is no day wherein a servant gets up at morning but two angels of mercy come down. One of them says: O Allah. give the charitable man success. Another says. O Allah! Give the miser destruction." (Ahmad)

Point to Ponder: Avoid destruction, be successful.

THE DOOR OF CHARITY

The Messenger (PBUH) said: 

"Whoso spends two kinds of a thing in the way of Allah will be called from doors of paradise ... Whoever belong to the persons of charity will be called from the door of charity." (Tirmidhi)

Point to Ponder: Be charitable and earn Paradise

EVEN AFTER DEATH

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

 "When a person dies, his actions come to an end except in respect to three things that he leaves behind: a continuous charity, beneficial knowledge that helps others, and righteous children who pray for him." (Muslim & Tirmidhi)

Point to Ponder: You can earn your reward after death.

 

WITH ALLAH'S PLEASURE

Allah's Prophet (PBUH) said:

 "Verily, charity appeases the wrath of Allah and eases the sufferings of death". (Tirmidhi)

Point to Ponder: Be far away from Allah's wrath with acts of charity.
