Saying: “What Allaah May Will And You (Muhammad) May Will”

Qutailah narrated that A jaw came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said:

"Your people commit shirk when they say: 'By the Will Allaah and also (also) with your will', and also say: By Ka'bah.'" Thereafter, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded (the companions (RA) to swear by saying:

"By Rabb (Lord) of the Ka'bah" and to say "By the Will of Allaah and then with your will" (An-Nasal)

Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) narrated that

"Once a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said:

"With the Will of Allaah and (also) with your will", he (the Prophet) then said:

"Have you made me an associate with Allaah?  Rather it is whatAllaah alone wills."  (An-Nasai)

Tufail (RA) narrated that:

I had a dream in which I came upon a group of Jews and said to them, "You are indeed a good people had you not claimed that Uzair is the son of Allaah." Then they said, "You too are good if you do not say: 'What Allaah will and Muhammad may Will ! 'After that, I came upon a group of On us and said to them, you are indeed a good people if you do not claim that Jesus is the son of Allaah," Then they said, "You too are good people if you do not say: 'What Allaah may will and Muhammad may will'." Then the following morning, I narrated the above event to some people and came to Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and repeated the whole event. He asked, "Have you told this to anybody else? I said "Yes." Then he went to his pulpit and after offering praises to Allaah said:

"Tufail had dream which he had already communicated to some of you. You used to say a sentence which due to some hesitation (that Allaah did not reveal in this regard) I could not prevent you from. Henceforthdo not say What Allaah will and Muhammad may will' but say: 'what Allaah may will alone'.(Ibn Majah)
