Imām Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal [رحمه الله] was asked:What is loving (someone) for the sake of Allāh ﷻ?He said :"It is that you don't love the person for a desire (you have) in his worldly possessions."[Tabaqāt Al-Hanābilah 1/57].
