Tracking multimedia usage on dawahnigeria has been an elusive one since we adopted Amazon S3 as our file server. Since the files are not resident on our own application server, all our existing methodologies to track downloads stopped working. We kept trying to enhance this system until we finally got to know about S3Stats service.
S3STAT is a service that takes the detailed server access logs provided by Amazon's CloudFront and Simple Storage Service (S3), and translates them into human readable statistics, reports and graphs.
We signed up with them during the month of Ramadan, this year and for the first time in a long time, we have a precise understanding of how our multimedia assets are performing.
The service enables us to
- track files individually and collectively
- drill down through date ranges
- view usage by country among a host of other features
A strong point of the service is the flexible and interactive reports in various formats, a huge asset to any manager.
We strongly recommend them!
