In the Hell-fire 2

Conversations Between Man and the Angels

Belief in the angels is one of the articles of faith in islam. The angels are created from light as Allahs Messenger informed us: "The Angels were born out of light and the Jinns were born out of the spark of fire and Adam was born as he has been defined (in the Quran) for you (i. e. he is fashioned out of clay)." (Muslim) The angels far out number the human race. Only Allah knows their number.

From what will make us appreciate the numerousness of the angels is that there is a House in heaven called the much-frequented house which is parallel to the Kabah on earth; 70, 000 angels go round it everyday. When a set of 70,000 go round it one day, it will never be their turn again until the Day of Resurrection.

Ali (RA) was asked "what of the much-frequented house? "He said:"It is the House in the heavens parallel to the Kabah. Its sanctity in the heavens is like the sanctity of the Kabah on earth. Everyday seventy thousand angels enter it and they never return to it." (Ibn Hajar narrated this in Fath Baari from at-Tabari and al-Albani authenticated it with corroboration) The connection between the angels and the descendants of Adam is very strong.

We encounter them at different stages of our lives. They are there when a person is created. They guard him/her after he/she emerges into this world. They bring the wahy (revelation) from Allah and they watch over peoples actions and behaviour. They protect man and they bring a persons soul forth from his body when his appointed time (of death) comes. A man said to Ali ibn Abi Taalib, "A group from Muraad wants to kill you. He said: With every man there are angels guarding him from whatever has not been decreed for him. When the decree comes they move away from him and let it reach him. Your fixed lifespan (decreed by Allah) is a protection for you." (al-Bidayah wa Nihayah)

Even after the soul of man has been taken our encounter with the angels does not come to an end: The Angels and the new arrivals into Hell Allah says: "For those who disbelieve in their Lord is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination. When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth. It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?" (Q67[Mulk]:7-8)

Here Allah describes the terrible end of those who disbelieve in Him. Upon seeing them alone, Hellfire will rage with fury and when they enter it, it will boil them. Sufyan Ath-Thawri (RAH) said, "It will boil them just as a small number of seeds are boiled in a lot of water." (Ibn Katheer) The angels question: "Did no warner come to you?" is a rhetorical question which is asked in order to complete the humiliation of those who made it to hell. The guilty inmates of Hell will respond: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error." (Q67[Mulk]:9)

This is an affirmation of the promise of Allah that He will not punish man without first sending a warner to him. Allah says: "And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger." (Q17[al-lsraai]:15) The disbelievers will admit their own guilt "And they will say: Had we but listened or used our intelligence, .we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!" (Q6 7[Mulk]: 10)

AI-Imam Ahmad recorded from Abu Al-Bakhtari At-Tai that, he heard from one of the Companions that the Messenger of Allah said: "The people will not be destroyed until they themselves confess their guilt." In yet another hadith, the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "No one will enter Hellfire except that he will acknowledge that he is more deserving to be in Hell than to be in Paradise."(Ahmad)

The fact that the dwellers of hell will acknowledge their own folly is a pointer to a poignant message that those who make it to hell lacked real intelligence even though they were professionals, professors and eggheads while they were in the world. A host for bad guests Allah also gives us a picture of yet another welcome for the people of Hell:. "And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened (suddenly like a prison at the arrival of the prisoners).

And its keepers will say, "Did not the Messengers come to you from yourselves, reciting to you the Verses ofyour Lord, and warning you of the Meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say: "Yes, but the Word of torment has been justified against the disbelievers!" It will be said (to them): "Enter you the gates of Hell, to abide therein. And (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant." (Q39 [Zumar]:71-72) The Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Paradise and Hell (Fire) quarrelled in the presence of their Lord. Paradise said, O Lord! What is wrong with me that only the poor and humble people enter me? Hell (Fire) said, I have been favored with the arrogant people.

So Allah said to Paradise, You are My Mercy.and said to Hell, You are My Punishment which I inflict upon whom I wish, and I shall fill both of you." The Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) added, "As for Paradise, (it will be filled with good people) because Allah does not wrong any of His created things, and He creates . for Hell (Fire) whomever He will, and they will be thrown into it, and it will say thrice, Is there any more, till Allah (willput) His Foot over it and it will become full and its sides will come close to each other and it will say, Qat! Qat! Qat! (Enough! Enough! Enough!) . (Bukhari)

Fervent wish, errant wish Allah informs us that when the disbelievers have been admitted into Hellfire, they will nurse a fervent but errant wish%see when they will be held over the (Hell) Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back (to the world)! Then we would not deny the Ayat (verses, lessons, revelations, etc.) of our Lord and we would be of the believers. They will say this when they are made to stand before the Fire on the Day of Resurrection and witness its chains and restraints, along with seeing the horrible, momentous conditions in the Fire with their own eyes. However they will be denied their request: "But if they were returned (to the world), they would certainly revert to that which they were forbidden. And indeed they are liars."  (Q6 [Anam] :27-28)

A Wish for death After the previous request is denied them, the disbelievers will see death as a means of escape from the torment of Fire. Allah . informs us: "And they will cry: "O Malik (Keeper of Hell)! Let your Lord make an end of us." He will say: "Verily you shall abide forever. Indeed We have brought the truth (Muhammad SAW with the Quran), to you, but most of you have a hatred for the truth." (Q43:77-78)

Momentary Ease

When they are also denied the luxury of death, Allah informs us that the disbelievers again will make yet another request lower than the previous in the hope that they may be answered. This time they will be unable to ask Allah directly because they know that Allah will not answer them and will not listen to their prayer, because He said: "Remain you in it with ignominy! And speak you not to Me" (Q23[Muminun]:108). So, " those in the Firewill say to the keepers (angels) of Hell: "Call upon your Lord to lighten for us the torment for a day!" They will say: "Did there not come to you, your Messengers with (clear) evidences and signs? They will say: "Yes." They will reply: "Then call (as you like)! And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but in error." %rget="_blank">(Q40[Ghafir]:49-50) Meaning, you are on your own. We will not pray for you or listen to you; we do not want you to be saved and we have nothing to do with you.

Moreover, we tell you that it is all the same whether you .offer supplication or not, because Allah will not respond and He will not lighten the torment for you. A Conference in,Hell After disbelievers have lost all hope of respite from Allah, then they will turn to their leaders in world who led them astray hoping that they will offer to bear part of their punishment: "And they all shall appear before Allah (on the Day of Resurrection) then the weak will say to those who were arrogant (chiefs): "Verily,we were following you; can you avail us anything from Allahs Torment?" They will say: "Had Allah guided us, we would have guided you. It makes no difference to us (now) whether we rage, or bear (these torments) with patience, there is no place of refuge for us." (QI4[lbrahim]:21)

Allah also tells us that the followers who were misled will pray to Him: "Our Lord! Verily,we obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us from the (right) way. Our Lord! Give them a double torment and curse them with a mighty curse!" (Q33[Ahzab]:67-68) In another verse Allah informs us: "But if you could see when the wrongdoers will be made to stand before their Lord, how they will cast the (blaming) word one to another! Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Had it not been for you, we certainly have been believers!" And those who were arrogant will say to those who were deemed weak: "Did we keep you back from guidance after it had come to you Nay, but you were wrongdoers." Those who were deemed weak will say to those Who were arrogant: "Nay, but it was your plotting by night and day: when you ordered us to disbelieve in Allah and set up rivals to Him!" And We shall put iron collars round the necks of those who disbelieved. Are they requited aught except what they used to do." (Q34[Saba]:31-33)

Friends against friends

Allah also informs us that those who allowed their friends to deceive them from the right path of Islam will blame their friends whom they will also find in the Hellfire and they will wish path never crossed while they were in the world. The friend will say: "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)!" (Q43 [Zukhruf] :38) Thinking that the blame of his friend will put him into further trouble with Allah, we are informed that the other friend will fight back. "His companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not push him to transgress, (in disbelief, oppression, and evil deeds) but he was himself in error far astray." (Q50[Qaf ]27)

In this is a clear warning with regard to choosing bad friends who would not assist us in the fear of Allah. Allah also informs us that those who do not allow their friends to lead them astray will laugh last. Allaah says about the people of Paradise: "Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death).

(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)? (The man) said: "Will you look down?" So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." It is recorded that Prophet Dawud (alayhi salaam) said: "Act like a merciful father to the orphan".

And know that what you sow is what you reap. There not a worse poverty than the one that occur after haven been wealthy. What is more than that or worse than that is misguidance after haven been previously guided. If you give a promise to your companion (friend) fulfil what you have promised him otherwise you will sow between you and him enmity. Seek Allahs refuge from a friend that if you remember to (to act righteously) he will not assist you (in that regard) and when you forget (to act righteously) he will not remind you." (Saheeh Adab al-Mufrad)

The Address of Shaytan in Hell

The people of hell will hurl the entire blame of their predicament on Shaytan but he will fight back: "And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world).

Verily there is a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc. (QI4[Ibrahim]: 22) Iblis, may Allah curse him, will stand and give this address to his colleagues in Hell in order to add depression to their depression, sorrow to their sorrow and grief to their grief.
