Manners of Giving Charity

Means of Righteousness "By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc., it means here Allah's Reward, i.e. Paradise), unless you spend (in Allahs Cause) of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allaah knows it well." (Q3 [Aal-lmraan] :92)

Types of Charity

Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Every Muslim has to give in charity." The people asked, "O Allaah's Prophet! If someone has nothing to give, what will he do?" He said, "He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns)." The people further asked, "If he cannot find even that?" He replied, "He should help the needy who appeal for help," Then the people asked, "If he cannot do that?" He replied, "Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds and this will be regarded as charitable deeds." (Bukhaari) "Better in Secret "If you disclose your Sadaqat (alms-giving), it is well, but if you conceal it, and give it to the poor, that is better for you ... " (Q2[Baqarah]:271)

Char!ty on Behalf of the Dead A man said to the Rasul (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) "My mother died, will it benefit her if I give in charity on her behalf?" The Prophet replied in the affirmative. (Bukhari)

Means of Increased Wealth

The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures needs, All-Knower." (Q2[Baqarah]:261)

The Best Charity

In another narration, he said: "To give charity when you are healthy and greedy hoping to be wealthy and afraid of becoming poor ." (Bukhari) Do not Invalidate your Charity "O you who believe! Do not render in vain your Sadaqah (charity) by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men, and he does not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day." (Q2[Baqarah]:264).

It Prevents Calamity

Allaah's Messenger (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Give the sadaqah without delay for it stands in the way of calamity" (Tirmidhi) He also said: "Sadaqah appeases the Lords anger and averts an evil death. "(Tirmidhi) Give what is Pure "No one gives Sadaqa of a date out of his honest earning, but Allah accepts it with His Right Hand, and then fosters it as one of you fosters the colt or a young she-camel, till it becomes like a mountain or even greater. (Bukhari)

Wife's Charity

"If the wife gives of her husbands property (something in charity) without his permission, he will get half the reward." (Bukhari) . Those who may ask for charity asking for charity is permissible only for the following three classes [of people]; those who are in abject poverty, those who have severe debts, or those who incurred it in the payment of blood-money [on behalf of a relative or friend].
