Six Moral Lessons From the Quran

Respect and Honour All Human Beings

"And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam, and We have carried them on land and sea, and have provided them with At-Taiyibat (lawful good things), and have preferred them above many of those whom We have created with a marked preference." [QI7[lsrai]:70)

Be Just, Even If It Is Against A Relative

"And whenever you give your word (i.e. judge between men or give evidence, etc.), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned, and fulfill the Covenant of A1laah, This He commands you, that you may remember." (Q6[Anam]:152)

If You Commit An Error, Then Correct Yourself Immediately

"Those who spend [in Allahs Cause - deeds of charity, alms, etc.} in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allah loves AI-Muhsinun (the good-doers). And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse etc.) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allah - And do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know." (Q3[Nisaa]: 134)

Do Not Be Contemptuous Or Arrogant With People

"And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not each arrogant boaster."(Q31 [Luqman]:18)

Remember, Someone Else Knows Better Than You

"Do Say what you do not know "And follow not (0 man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not, etc.) that of which you have no knowledge (e.g. ones saying: "I have seen," while in fact he has not seen, or "I have heard," while he has not heard). Verily! The hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each of those you will be questioned (by A1laah)." (Q 17[lsraai]:36)

Be Nice To People

"Worship A1laah and join none with Him in worship, and do good to parents, kinsfolk orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor), the neighbour who is near of kin, the neighbour who is a stranger, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (you meet), and those (slaves) whom your right hands possess. Verily, Allah does not like such as are proud and boastful." (Q4[Nisaa]:36)
