"And do not kill yourselves; indeed Allah is ever merciful to you." (Q4:27)
Allah has permitted all things for the sake of nourishment of the human system but He has forbidden only a few because of their harmfulness or impurity. Of the forbidden things are substances which may cause death. either immediately or gradually as well as those harmful and dangerous to health. "Tobacco smoking is dangerous to health". It does not take a Federal Ministry of Health 's warning to know that. Allah says:
"and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction but do good for Allah loves those who do good." (Q2: 195)
Some scholars regard smoking as haram while some consider it is as makruh (detestable). A Muslim is not entirely his own master; his body system is held in trust by him over which he will render account. Cigarette smoking is not agreeable to human nature. You gain nothing by a stick of cigarette except probably gathering scum -in your buccal cavity and sins around your person, Don't drop down the ladder, drop that stick of cigarette for Allah's sake.
