Do Not Lie

The Prophet (PBUH) was once asked: Can a Mu'min be a coward? He said 'Yes'. Can he be a miser? He said 'Yes'. Can he be a liar? The Prophet replied: 'No'. (Al-Muwatta)

Point to Ponder: Take note, lying automatically removes the status of Mu'min.

Be Steadfast

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked: 'Tell me something about Islam which should enable me to dispense with having to ask anyone else? He replied

"Affirm: I believe in Allah, and then be steadfast".(Muslim)

Point to Ponder: Continue to reaffirm your believe inAllah - in words and deeds, and be steadfast.

Best of Mankind

Rasulullah (PBUH) was asked: 'Who is the best of mankind?' He answered:

"A believer who strives with his person and his property in the cause of Allah. He was asked: 'and after him?' He said: ''A believer who worships Allah in a mountain valley and spares people all mischief". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Strive with all you've got.


The Prophet (PBUH) said:

"Truthfulness leads torighteousness and righteousness leads toParadise.A man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes atruthful person". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Be truthful, righteous.


Allah's Messenger (PBUH) was asked:

'who is the most honoured and respected person among the people?'He said: "One who fears Allah the most .." (Muslim)

Point to Ponder: If you want to be honoured and respected like heroes are, then fear Allah.

The Prayer of a Wiseman

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray: "O Allah, I ask for guidance, piety, chastity and abundance from You (Allah)". (Muslim)

Point to Ponder: Who doesn't need all these and more? Let us all pray as such.

Hasten to do Good

Rasulullah(PBUH) advised:

''Hasten to do good for soon there will be a succession of disorders like the chasing darkness of night; a person will start the day believing and will end it disbelieving, or go to bed believing and get up in the morning disbelieving. He will be ready to sell his faith for a worldly advantage". (Muslim)

Point to Ponder: Hurry up and do good, before it too is late.

Grades in Paradise

Rasulullah (PBUH) said:

"there are one hundred grades in Paradise which Allah has prepared for those who strive in the cause of Allah and the distance between any two of those grades is like the distance between heaven and earth". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: So work and hope for a higher, grade.


Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

"There are three things on account of which no rancour enters a Muslim's heart: the sincerity of purpose for Allah's sake; seeking goodness for the Muslims and adhering to their main body (Jama'ah), for their prayers encompass them all round". (Tinnidhi)

Point to Ponder: Be heroic, fight for the course of Muslims and be at peace.


Allah's Messenger (PBUH) said:

"Whoever seeks martyrdom with sincerity shall get its reward, though he may not achieve it". (Muslim)

Point to Ponder: Once again, this shows the importance of sincerity.

Only by the Righteous

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)said:

"Keep company only with a believer, and let your food be eaten only by the righteous". (Abu Daud & Tirrnidhi)

Point to Ponder: Keep the right company, it pays.

Be Gentle

Rasulullah (PBUH) clarified:

"Gentleness adorns everything and its' absence leaves everything defective". (Muslim)

Point to Ponder: Be gentle in all that you do.

Emulate Them

The Prophet (PBUH) was asked:

What would you say about one who loves a people but is unable to emulate them? He replied: ''A person will be raised with those he loves."(Bukhari & Muslim).

Point to Ponder: Don't just love heroes emulate them too.


Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

"There is no faith in him who is not trustworthy and there is no religion in him who does not respect his covenant". (Tirmidhi)

Point to Ponder: Be trust worthy and obey your covenant.


Umar (RA) & Shaytan

About Umar (RA) the Prophet (PBUH) said:

"...Never does Shaytan find you going on a way, but he takes another way other than yours". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Shaytan feared Umar (RA) because of his deeds. You too should do good always and Shaytan will not be so close to you.

A Good Semblance

Rasulullah (PBUH) said:

"You resemble both me in appearance and character". (Bukhari) about Jafar ibn AbiTahb.

Point to Ponder: You too can resemble the Prophet (PBUH) by following all his advises.

Compassion for All

The Prophet (PBUH) said:

"The most compassionate member of my people towards my people is Abu Bakr" (Tirmdhi)

Point to Ponder: Be like Abu Bakr (RA), show compassion to fellow human beings and even animals too.

Young and Pious

Allah's Messenger (PBUH) said:

''Abdullah (ibn Umar) is a pious man". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Piety (i.e. fear of Allah) has no age limit. So you too am be young and pious, like Abdullah (RA).

His Daughter Too!

Rasulullah (PBUH) said this of his daughter, Fatimah (RA):

"Fatima is the chief mistress of the women in Paradise ". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Fatima excelled because of her deeds and not because of who her father was. So be of good behaviour and excel no matter your background

Be Trustworthy

Allah's Messenger (PBUH) commented:

"Every nation has an extremely trustworthy man, and the trustworthy man of this (i.e. Muslim) nation is Abu Ubaydah bin A l-Jarrah". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Take a leaf from Abu Ubaydah, be trustworthy.

True & Faithful

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said :

"The earth does not carry, nor the heavens cover, a man more true and faithful than Abu Dharr". (Tirmidhi)

Point to Ponder: Certainly, you can't be Abu Dharr (RA). But you can be like him; be truthful and faithful,


Being Dear

The Prophet (PBUH) explained when he was asked why he chose Zayd ibn Al-Harith (RA) and his son Usamah (RA) for leadership roles:

"He (i.e. Zayd) was worthy of leadership and was one of the dearest persons to me, and (now) Usama is one of the dearest tome after him (i.eZayd) ". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Be good to your fellow human beings; and become very dear to them.

Before You

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised:

"learn the Qur'an from any of these four persons: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud; Salim the freed slave of Abu Hadhayfa, Ubayy ibn Ka'b and Mu'adh ibn Jabal". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: You too can be someone to learn the Qur'an from.

Aisha (RA): Above All

Rasulullah (PBUH) said:

"The superiority of Aisha is like the superiority of Tharid to other meals". (Bukhari)

Point to Ponder: Tharid is a special meal of the Arabs, and so superior to other meals. Likewise is Aisha (RA) to other women. You too can stand out from your peers by being a good Muslim.

Modesty & Obligatory Duties

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

"... the most genuinely modest is Uthman, the one who knows most about obligatory duties is Zayd ibn Thabit …" (Timidhi)

Point to Ponder: Be modest even in your obligatory duties.

Ali (RA): the Lawyer

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

"...Ali is the best in legal matters …" (Timidhi)

Point to Ponder: We all know legal issues are knotty. Yet it was a fellow youth that was the best in it during the Prophet (PBUH)'s time..

What are You Good In?

Allah's Messenger (PBUH) said:

"The most knowledgeable in my Ummah in matters of Halal & Haram is Mu'adh ibn Jabal". (Tirmidhi)

Point to Ponder: In wbich part of lslam are you good in? Do you think Rasulullah (PBUH) would be proud of you as he was of Mu'adh (RA).


Rasulullah (PBUH) said:

"... believe what Hudhayfah tells you and recite what Abdulllah recites to you".(Tirmdhi)

Point to Ponder: Check yourself, can someone say this of you? If no, then make it so.
