Umar bn Abdul Azeez was born and brought up in the traditionally pious surroundings of Madinah. He was known for his impartiality, Straightforwardness and ascesticism. As a matter of fact he was considered as the best caliph after the death of the four rightly-guided caliphs as whatever was seen during the time of the four rightly-guided caliphs especially that of Abubakr and Umar, was witnessed during his time in terms of prosperity and justice.
Some of his achievements are the following
1. Building of new roads, hospitals and schools in every state
2. Large number of non-Muslims accepted Islam during his reign
3. He was responsible. for the compilation of ahadeeth of the Prophet [peace and blessing of Allaah be upon him] 4. He settled soma of the rift that was between some factions in, Islam emerging as, a result of the battle of Siffin. His reign was one of the best in the history of Islam. It was, remarkably free from sedition and civil strife. However, he did not live long as he only reigned for just two and half years.
His death was mourned by generality of the people Including the Christians and the Jews. non-Muslims especially Europeans hold Abubakr, `Umar bn Khattab [RA], `Umar bn Abdulazeez , Nurudin Zangi and Salahudin al-Ayubi in great reverence due to their nobility wisdom and graciousness.
