"Say those without knowledge: "why speaks not Allah unto us? Or why comes not unto us a sign?" So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike. We have indeed made clear the Signs unto any people who hold firmly to faith (in their hearts)". (Q2: 118).
His original name is unknown but he is now called Sheikh Sherifdeen Khalifah. He is about five years old but from his mouth flows words that even some 50 year old cannot comprehend. His birth, reports claim, was unusual but not miraculous. The 'miracles' started at month four when he began speaking in Arabic - a language that is similar but very different from his native Swahili. Since month nine, continued the report, he has been calling to the path of Allah' quoting copiously from the Qur'an and the Bible. Is he a sign of Allah (ayat-u-lah), was he foretold by the Rasul (PBUH) or is he yet another prophet? Mercifully, he has not claimed any of these labels for himself - the thoughts of other people are another matter!
Allah is the Creator of all things and He can manifest any sign that He so desires to mankind.
"... Allah's will (be done)! there is no power but from Allah! … " (Q18:39).
Cases of child prodigies abound in this century: a six year old girl gave birth to a child in Peru in the early 1930s and there was no evidence of any prior sexual intercourse! Then five years ago,
a two-year old Sri Lankan boy born to a Muslim home started reciting from the Buddhist sacred texts. The mushriks (polytheist) turned him into an icon and as a proof for Buddhism. Alhamdulillahi, he was exorcised by Muslim scholars at the age of 4 and today he lives as a normal Muslim kid. This is not to imply that Sheikh Sherifdeen is equally possessed by jinns- may Allah bless and keep him in submission to His Will! Amin. On the contrary, his message and preachings so tar are in full accord with Islam. The depth of his message is breath-taking and he strongly advocates tawheed (oneness of Allah). This should be our focus: the message is the key and not the medium for there will be no other Messenger of Allah after Muhammad Rasulullah (PBUH).
So whenever you come into contact with Sheikh Sherifdeen, whether live or on video, wonder about the sign of Allah that is manifest in him but ponder more on the message that comes out of his mouth. If it is consistent with al-Islam, then believe in that message and live your life in full submission to Allah in Islam. The Sheikh is not the issue, the issue is your shahadah (the convenant of La '[laha Illa Allah, Muhammad Rasulullah).
"When there comes to them a sign (from Allah), they say: 'We shall not believe until we receive one (exactly} like those received by Allah's Messenger'. Allah knows best where to place His mission "(Q6:124) .
